Sissies: Something Perfect Between Ourselves
Sissies: Something Perfect Between Ourselves is a dance-theater work set within a fictional Black gay bar, a site of gathering, pleasure, and survival. Drawing on Sylvester, the disco era, humor, and partner dancing, the work expands ideas of masculinity, Blackness, and queerness beyond fixed forms. Moving through nostalgia and play, it honors a lineage of connection while imagining modes of being together that remain fluid, tender, and alive.
